Activity 3 - Letters of offer
Talk to staff in your organisation and have a look at the style and content of typical offer of employment letters and letters sent to unsuccessful applicants.
Given what you have read about the content of these letters, what is your evaluation of their effectiveness in meeting your employer’s legal obligations as well as maintaining a professional public image? What modifications would you make to adapt this for your own organisation?
Possible improvements may include:
- making letters appear more personal
- giving more information for the successful candidate—e.g. who to report to on the first day
- ensuring correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
