Introduction
The timing of your interviews will be driven by a number of factors
- The need to fill the position
- The selection criteria you are addressing at interview and how you intend to assess other criteria
- The availability of panel members
- The selection methods you have chosen
- Analysing responses to questions
- Allocating questions to panel members.
Your candidates should ideally be given 3 days notice although you may choose to conduct your first set of interviews quite quickly.
Your candidates should be advised of the interview
- date,
- time,
- location,
- composition of the panel and
- any other necessary requirements (e.g. samples of work etc)
The length of the face to face interview may vary and should be as long as it needs to be to collect the information you require. Remember to allow time to;
- review the candidate’s application/resume
- greet the candidate
- develop rapport with the candidate
- questioning the candidate
- reflecting on the candidate
- necessary breaks for the panel.
You might consider allowing at least 15 minutes between your anticipated ending of one interview before the next candidate arrives so they do not meet in the waiting room.
