What is Facebook?
Facebook is a popular free social networking site that allows registered users to create profiles, post status updates, upload photos and videos, send messages, host events and keep in touch with friends, family, colleagues, common interest groups and organisations.
Why use Facebook for teaching and learning?
Facebook is one of the largest free social media sites and which many of our students are already using. It promotes student community, satisfaction and retention. Major findings of research across 13 Australian universities (Benefits of Social Networking Services (SNS)) include delivering education outcomes, facilitating supportive relationships, fosters strong sense of community and belonging, helps to successfully adapt to change and stressful events, promotes internet and media literacy.
