Statement of Significance

"C. Linnegar, Teacher - Welding" and H. Harris (Head Teacher) - Oxy and Electric)" appear in the staff list for the Dept. of Engineering, Sydney Technical College in the Technical Education Branch's Handbook for 1940. In this photograph, they instruct Commonwealth Defence Training students for work in war related industries including aircraft maintenance and munitions factories.
Sydney Technical College was a major centre for defence training in New South Wales during the Second World War.
