Statement of Significance

These manual hair clippers came from the Hairdressing section at Sydney Institute, Ultimo and became part of the SI Heritage collection in 2005. The clipper with blade no. 1 is designed to cut hair about 1/8 of an inch long. The second clipper is fitted with a size no. 0 blade and will cut hair to about 1/32 of an inch long. In general, manual clippers have been replaced by electric clippers in salons.
